ABOUT THE BOOK
Written by Robert and Karen Hanvik
Illustrated by Ella Ransom
Publisher’s Synopsis: Bella and Bertie are twins, but they don’t know that, or each other. Separated while babies by bad law, they grew up 6000 miles apart, in Singapore and London. Follow the twins as they discover their shared past and do their best to make a better future for themselves, their families, and others like them.

MY REVIEW

There are many stories of twins separated at birth, just think of "The Parent Trap" for instance. But how many times are the twins from a family of monsters? And there are also plenty of stories about families who become involved in activism, but they aren't often monsters fighting for monster rights. Books that do feature monsters are generally not full of bright colors or jokes about monster arms being too short for taking good selfies.  Readers will be surprised by the humor, the inclusion of famous landmarks from London and Singapore, and the idea that even monsters want a best friend.

Be sure to visit the Monster Twins website to learn more about the creation of the book - which was a family affair. And for those who love to extend their reading - the interactive version of the book also has links to additional information about some of the landmarks, PDFs to print and color, and even a word search and a writing activity.
