Spring Reading 2023 Why We Need Teachers

 

Just in time for Teacher Appreciation Week, this touching picture book lists reasons why teachers are necessary. Rhyming text describes skills and knowledge that are learned from various mentors, coaches, and other teachers. Mixed media illustrations depict various scenes of adult and young animals interacting with each other. Some pages are fairly realistic - otters twirling underwater, deer walking through a snowy forest, or bears enjoying some apples. Others will have readers laughing at a young bee working with an abacus or hedgehogs using a chalkboard. 

A sampling of some reasons why we need teachers include "Teachers give us tools to make sense of things" and "Teachers help mold our brains, but also our hearts!" Whether you know a youngster who will enjoy the gentle humor or have a teacher you wish to recognize, pick up a copy and share it with someone special.
