What makes up who we are? Others see our physical appearance and skills. If we are brave enough to share our thoughts, they may come to know what is in our mind. And those closest to us are held in our hearts. But do young readers spend much time contemplating what else makes each of us unique? This brightly illustrated book explores the different strengths that make up what is described by the narrator as soul treasure. Gems are used to represent qualities within each individual. Soul rubies that help us feel “safe and sound.” Opals of creativity, diamonds of happiness - a treasure trove of riches are inside everyone. Every gem has its own spread, filled with shades of its characteristic color. There are sparkling blue waterfalls, cool green forests, shimmery white snow banks…and the narrator embraces all the experiences - hugging trees, soaking up sunshine, enjoying the spray from the waterfall, etc. But the focus always comes back to affirmations that the reader can repeat such as, “I am courageous and brave!” This is an entertaining book to encourage a little one who is having a bad day and feeling that they are not special. Who could not help but feel special with a soul full of treasure?
ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Kate Searle is a geologist, wife, and mum who lives in the southwest of Australia. Becoming a mother sparked Kate’s love of storytelling. She has an innate passion for instilling in children a sense of personal empowerment. She has woven her love of gemstones into her debut book, My Soul Treasure, to teach children about the incredible powers of their own souls.

ABOUT THE ILLUSTRATOR
Alison Mutton is an illustrator from Perth, Western Australia, mainly working in the children’s and educational publishing fields. She holds a Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in Design & Illustration from Curtin University and has been a freelance illustrator for over ten years. When not illustrating, she likes to play the piano, needle felt, walk her dog, and swing dance.
