Publisher’s Book Summary: Everything is fun until nighttime comes. Are the howls in the dark only in their imaginations, or do ghosts and goblins become real when the full moon rises?
The children love visiting Grandmother. Playing great games and reading cool books goes perfectly with eating her delicious cookies and cakes. But when bedtime comes and off go the lights, things get a little scary as they say their goodnights.
The kids shiver at the creepy sounds from the attic and the strange shadows floating through the air. But Gran’s not worried at all; in fact, she has a secret to share…
Will they find a way to get over their dread, so they can finally rest their heads?
Grandma’s House is Haunted is a delightful children’s picture book, both spooky and sweet. If you like Halloween fun, bumps in the night, and doting grannies, then you’ll adore Stephen G. Bowling’s cheerfully eerie Picture Book that shows children there’s nothing to be afraid of when the lights go out.

MY REVIEW
Written in rhyming text that invites prediction and repetition by young readers, this book shares the fun of a sleepover at grandmother’s house. Everything is fine as the kids enjoy homemade baked goods, favorite board games, and lots of laughs. But once the sun goes down and it is bedtime, things turn spooky. Noises from within the walls, shadows overhead, movement outside the window - there must be something haunting the house! Illustrations show skeletal figures creeping along the walls or reaching across the blankets. Ghosts slip out of the bookcase and a dragon pokes its head from behind the curtain. Witches, werewolves, and goblins of all sorts fly through the air, rattle around the attic, or swing from the light fixtures. The frightened grandchildren huddle under the covers or cover their eyes. Luckily for these kiddies, their grandmother is very patient and understanding. She checks the closet and other hiding places, even shining her flashlight outside to check for any monsters. She carefully explains what caused the creepy shadows and odd noises and has everyone tucked back into bed by the end of the story. Anyone who has ever slept over in a creaky old house will sympathize with the children. Young readers may be reassured by the explanations, or they may enjoy the thrill of searching for each ghoulie and ghostie in the illustrations. Either way, they will have a safe thrill while reading and can then close the book on the spooks when they are done.
