MY REVIEW
Once again Alycat and her friends are having feelings and experiences that are very familiar to most young readers. Whether it is a day that seems turned around backwards from the start or a sleepover full of giggles and surprises, these kittens are easy to relate to. This time Alycat is dreading Monday and what it will be like. “It’s going to rain all day, I can’t find my school shoes, and I bet we’ll have a pop quiz,” she tells her family. But her mother encourages her to go ahead and enjoy Sunday with her friends. But it seems that her friends are also having a case of the scaries. Kit is nervous about riding her new, bigger bike. Spotty is afraid to climb down from the treehouse in the park because he might fall. Eleonor is nervous about talking to customers who come to her lemonade stand. When they support each other, they manage to overcome their trepidation and succeed. They even cheer up Alycat and have her looking forward to the week at school. Besides a story that is easy to empathize with and brightly colored illustrations that show adorable kittens at play together, the book also offers tips for running a successful lemonade stand. A fun story for cat lovers, kids who enjoy friendship tales, and for youngsters who have a case of the “scaries” about an upcoming event in their own lives.
