MY REVIEW
If you have ever read one of the Five Little Monkeys books or acted out the counting rhyme, then you are familiar with the pattern that this book follows. In this case, instead of five naughty monkeys jumping on the bed or getting into other mischief, there are five sweet little angels. As the angels hop about on their cloud and peek at the world below they see neighbors caring for each other, friends apologizing after a quarrel and other good deeds that make them dance for joy. Although the angels manage to tumble off the cloud one by one, they are all happily reunited at the end of the story and sing a sweet lullaby to close out the book.
Families looking for stories that value good deeds and acts of kindness will enjoy sharing Five Little Angels with their young ones. The angels are depicted with a range of skin tones and hair colors which make it easier for children to imagine themselves floating on that cloud as part of the group. They may also be encouraged to carry out their own acts of kindness whether it is caring for others, protecting nature, or getting along with friends. Read it with your own little angel and then talk over the possibilities.
